  • Rich Mavrogeanes, President & CEO

    Rich MavrogeanesRich Mavrogeanes has been in the technology industry for more than 35 years. Rich founded VBrick Systems, Inc. in 1997 and served as the President, CEO, and later Chief Technology Officer for a dozen years, and helped grow the company from nothing to a major force in the video streaming industry with #1 Market Share in the Enterprise video business and a rapidly growing Internet streaming business. More recently, he founded Discover Video LLC in 2008 where he serves as President and Chief Technology Officer. Prior to VBrick, he was a founding executive at Switched Network Technologies, and AVIDIA, and he worked for 15 years in the U.S. Defense industry at Dataproducts, and was a Director at GDC.

    Rich has received many awards and accolades, including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of the Year Finalist Award, Computer World's "Hero" Award, was named as a "Top 100" for making a difference in Federal IT by Federal Computer Week, and many Streaming Media's top honors including "All Star" award".

    Rich served on the board of the MPEG Industry Forum, was a board member of the Internet Streaming Media Alliance, and serves on the board of the Connecticut Technology Council, Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration President Council, serves on the board of a local TV station, and is a board member of the Connecticut State Commission for Educational Technology.

    His background includes education while serving in the U.S. Air Force in Europe, and at the University of Boston and the University of Maryland.

    Rich writes a monthly column for Streaming Media magazine ("Rich's Media"), and writes for other top industry journals.

  • Mike Savic, Vice President of Business Development

    Mike SavicMike Savic has over 20 years marketing management experience in IP communications including, data, voice, and video. His key focus areas are video streaming, webcasting, video conferencing, IPTV, unified communications, elearning/distance learning, and video hosting services.

    He is currently Vice President, Business Development at Discover Video, LLC. Since 2009 he has helped establish the company as a technology leader in the video streaming industry. It currently has over 100 worldwide customers in the broadcast, education, corporate, and government market sectors. Mike is responsible for marketing, sales, and strategic alliances.

    As Director of Marketing for VBrick Systems, Mike developed and executed Go-To-Market programs for VBrick’s digital video products and services which increased company revenues from $0 in 1999 to $40 million in 2008. The activities included market analysis, creation of demand generation tools, website development, webinars, media and analyst relations, conferences/trade shows, and promotion. He was also VBrick’s main liaison for the Internet2, Educause, NAB (National Association of Broadcasters), USDLA, AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education), and other professional and industry organizations.

    Before joining VBrick, Mike served as Senior Product Manager at General Datacomm (GDC), where he was responsible for various products including ATM Access, xDSL, DSLAM, Remote LAN Access, Frame Relay Switching, and Time Division Multiplexers.

    Mike has spoken at various conferences including InfoComm, Streaming Media East, Government Video Expo, New England Exchange, Collaborate East, and others. He has written articles for Pro AV, eSchoolNews, Streaming Media Magazine, Teleconference, Internet Telephony, and Digital Content Producer Magazines.

    Mike earned his Master of Science degree in International Business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He earned his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering degrees at the University of Connecticut.

  • Kevin Shively, Vice President of Services

    Kevin ShivelyKevin Shively brings over 15 years of experience in the media and Internet technology industries. Kevin currently holds the position of Vice President, Services, at Discover Video, LLC. He is responsible for developing and enhancing the companies’ service offerings including web and application services, professional webcasting solutions and digital media consulting services.

    Most recently, Kevin was EVP of business development and later CTO for TV Worldwide, an Internet TV and webcasting company, where he was responsible for managing and developing TV Worldwide’s content management and web hosting solutions, databases, server infrastructure and streaming media technologies. Kevin was also responsible for making TV Worldwide the Official Webcaster for the National Television Academy Emmy Awards.
    Kevin headed up East Coast advertising sales for Net Radio Sales (now Katz Net Radio Sales), a company that represents over 2,000 Internet radio stations reaching millions of listeners each month. In that position, Kevin brought numerous Fortune 500 companies to Internet radio and provided triple-digit percentage revenue growth during his first two years.

    After several years in radio, Kevin was named Vice President of Marlin Broadcasting’s Beethoven.com Internet radio station where he made Beethoven.com one of the first Internet radio stations to successfully employ a targeted ad insertion solution. During his tenure, Beethoven.com was consistently rated among the top 10 most listened-to stations rated by the Arbitron Measurecast Ratings leading that list for several months.

    Kevin has been invited to speak at various industry events such as the NAB Show and Streaming Media East and West. He has twice been invited by the United States Copyright Office to represent the industry on regulatory concerns and helped negotiate the Small Webcaster Settlement Act of 2002 with the Recording Industry Association of America and SoundExchange. He has been interviewed by numerous magazines and news programs, including NBC Nightly News, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine. He served as a board member and executive director of the International Webcasting Association and continues to write articles for publication in trade magazines and industry newsletters.

    In January 2004, Kevin was named by Digital Media Magazine as one of the top 100 People in Digital Media.
